'Three's A Shroud' - a sneak peek at a modern horror anthology!

Written by Sophia Disgrace

Created by a trio of underground horror directors, who've been fed on a diet of no-brains, more-guts zombies flicks, aided by an army of Gorezone Scream Queens such as Morrigan Hel and Emily Booth, and armed with a good 10 gallons of fake blood, 'Three's A Shroud' is a creative homage to grindhouse cult, set to hit screens later this year.  Ahead of the release, Sophia Disgrace shares a behind-the-scene view - of shooting for her two on-screen parts, and the crucial part she also played in connecting directors David Davies, Dan Brownlie, and Andy Edwards in the first place.

An indie film with a difference, this home grown horror movie currently in production has not one, not two, but three directors at it's blood splattered helm, and I've had the pleasure of working with each of them. David Davies directed me in early noughties video nasty 'Animalsoup', Andy Edwards bloodied me up for his zombie movie series and a homage to Russ Meyer's girls and boobs flicks, and finally Dan Brownlie fused comedy and horror together in his cult classics 'Bear Scary' and 'Don't Know Jack'.  I introduced all three to one another, suspecting they shared a common passion for the red stuff and the rest, as they say, is history!

'Three's a Shroud' tells the story of a babysitter who just wants a quiet child-free evening in front of the TV.  This plan is spoiled by the insistent child she is supposed to be sitting requesting a bed time story.  She begins to tell him a series of horror stories in order to silence him and there follows three short tales of the macabre, guaranteed to send more than a shiver up your spine...

I had the pleasure of acting in Andy Edwards' tongue-in-cheek section 'The Pouting Dead'.  Paying homage to exploitation flicks from the days of grindhouse, it also features Emily Booth, Morrigan Hel and a bevy of ex-Gorezone Scream Queens, all strutting their stuff horror style, plus the key genre ingredients of blood, strap-on wielding prison guards, blood, crazed scientists, more blood and the undead!  A fun day of filming was had by all, the great thing about working with these guys being their passion and enthusiasm for the genre.

I also feature in David Davies' section as a dumbass model whose looks, well, start to fade - zombie style! So, with your appetites for depravity suitably whetted, I shall draw this article to a close - make sure you catch 'Three's a Shroud' in all it's g(l)ory later this year...
